Barcelona Beach Clubs 2026: What the City Actually Has

Barcelona has no Ibiza-style beach club. Here's what it has: Port Olímpic's seafront restaurant-clubs, beach bars with sunbeds you can book, and Beso Beach in Sitges.

Checked Research-led

Rewritten in October 2026

This guide was withdrawn on 6 October 2026 because too much of the old version was wrong: Pacha Barcelona had become KU Barcelona, Ocean Club isn't a beach club and Bestial had closed. It has been rewritten from the venues' own 2026 pages and Barcelona city council's beach information. The corrections page lists what changed.

The short version

  • Barcelona has no Ibiza-style beach club. No beach club in the city has a pool, and the Port Olímpic venues are restaurants by day and clubs by night.
  • On the sand, sunbeds come from the city's licensed beach bars, which have capped prices: €5.50 for a beer, €2.75 for a coffee.
  • For a sunbed you can book: Bo Kaap on Bogatell beach, €20 online.
  • For the seafront restaurant-into-club night: Opium, Shoko or CDLC at Port Olímpic.
  • For a proper beach-club day, with beds by a pool: Beso Beach Sitges, down the coast.
  • The 2026 lifeguard season ended on 4 October. Beach bars can open until 30 November at the latest.

If you're picturing Ibiza — daybeds, a pool, a DJ by the water from lunchtime — Barcelona isn't that. No beach club in the city has a pool, and the seafront clubs at Port Olímpic are restaurants and terraces by day and nightclubs after dark. What the city does have is nine beaches with licensed beach bars, a couple of which let you book a sunbed, some good seafront lunches, and a proper beach club down the coast in Sitges.

Everything here was checked in October 2026 against the venues' own pages and Barcelona city council's beach pages.

How Barcelona's beaches work

  • Nine beaches, west to east: Sant Sebastià, Sant Miquel, Barceloneta, Somorrostro, Nova Icària, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant, plus a paved bathing area at the Fòrum.
  • Beach bars are licensed by the city. For 2026–29 there are 14 licences: bars on the sand at Sant Sebastià, Sant Miquel, Nova Icària, Bogatell and Mar Bella, and sunbed-only licences at Barceloneta and Somorrostro. Nova Mar Bella and Llevant have none.
  • Prices are capped at the licensed beach bars: €5.50 for a 33cl beer or a soft drink, €2.75 for a coffee or a small water, €8.25 for a sandwich. The caps can rise with inflation each year. Drinks come in returnable cups with a €1 deposit, and the bars' toilets are open to everyone.
  • The season: beach bars can open from 1 March to 30 November at most. Lifeguards worked from 28 March to 4 October in 2026, from 10:30 to 19:30 in high season (30 May to 13 September).
  • Smoking has been banned on all the city's beaches since 2022, except inside the beach-bar areas and on the promenades.

Port Olímpic: restaurants by day, clubs by night

Opium Barcelona

Opium is a restaurant all day, with a beachfront terrace and an afternoon "Tardeo" session, and a club at night. Its 2026 summer residencies covered electronic, EDM and house, and hip hop. In October its club nights run from 23:30 until 05:00 or 06:00.

  • Where: Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta 34.
  • Door: smart. No flip-flops, beach sandals or sportswear, and the door can refuse entry. Tickets are usually sold on the door, but Opium recommends buying online.
  • Tables: VIP tables are prepaid, and the amount goes on drinks. Opium doesn't publish prices.

Shoko

Shoko (Shôko on its own signs) is a Mediterranean-Asian restaurant with a chill-out area and a terrace that works in any weather, open from morning to midnight, and a club with a themed night every day of the week. By its own account, brunch with a sea view costs less than €15.

  • Where: Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta 36.
  • Book: lunch (11:00–18:00), dinner (18:00–23:30) and VIP bottle service only. Drinks can't be booked, and tables are held for 15 minutes.

CDLC

CDLC (Carpe Diem Lounge Club), next to Hotel Arts, is a Mediterranean and Asian restaurant that turns into a club, with VIP lounges and Balinese-style booths. Its seafront terrace is enclosed and climate-controlled, so it works in winter too. It doesn't publish hours or prices.

  • Where: Passeig Marítim 32.
  • Book: online, or on +34 932 240 470.

KU Barcelona (formerly Pacha)

KU is a nightclub, not a beach club. It opens every night, and its Sunday parties run into October, but by day there's little to come for: its restaurant shows its next opening as 2027, and it mentions no sunbeds or beach service.

Bogatell: sunbeds you can book

Bo Kaap

The Pantea group's bar on Bogatell beach does breakfasts, tapas, fish and meat, non-stop from morning to midnight. It's the surest way to a sunbed on the city's beaches: book a sunbed and parasol online for €20, or pay €30 on the day.

  • Where: Bogatell beach, Avinguda del Litoral.
  • How it works: arrive between 10:00 and 13:00. Each parasol has a coded safety box. Cancellation is free up to 12 hours before, and you get your money back if it rains.
  • Groups: the whole bar can be hired for 20 or more.

Vai Moana

Also on Bogatell and also run by Pantea: a Polynesian, surf-themed beach bar doing tapas, salads and burgers, open from 10:00 until late with the kitchen open until midnight. Its own site says sunbeds can be booked online for €20; the group's site says €30, first come, first served. Check which applies before you go.

Lunch by the sea

Xiringuito Escribà

A permanent restaurant next to Bogatell beach, not a bar on the sand, and the rice specialist on this stretch. Rice dishes are €24–39.50 a head on its 2026 menu, cooked non-stop from 12:00 to 22:30 every day of the year.

  • Where: Avinguda del Litoral 62.
  • Book: +34 932 210 729.

Las Sardinitas

Moncho's group's terrace on the promenade facing Nova Icària beach, with glass panels that open or close with the weather, and a dining room behind. Grilled sardines €13.90, patatas bravas €7.50, seafood paella €23.90 a head for two or more.

  • Where: Avinguda del Litoral 36.
  • Hours: 11:00–24:00 every day, until 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

La Base by Farré

Chef Miquel Farré's Catalan cooking — oysters, tapas, rice — inside the municipal sailing centre on Mar Bella beach, with a €17 weekday set lunch. It doesn't publish opening hours.

  • Book: +34 653 771 944.

La Deliciosa

The Pantea group's bar where Sant Sebastià beach meets Sant Miquel, at the Barceloneta end of the seafront: breakfast through to cocktails, a kitchen that never closes, and no booking needed. Open from morning until midnight.

From Barcelona city council's beach pages and the 2026–29 beach-bar licences.

If you want quiet, the city's own pick is Nova Icària or Nova Mar Bella. Bogatell, often sold as the calm alternative, is one of the busiest, with a young crowd.

Out of town: Beso Beach Sitges

For the full beach-club day — a restaurant, beds by a pool, a DJ — the nearest is Beso Beach Sitges, at the ME Sitges Terramar hotel on Platja de les Anquines, a train ride down the coast.

  • Restaurant: Basque-Mediterranean, and bookable. Groups of more than nine book by phone.
  • Oyster Bar: open to everyone, no bookings, with live music and DJs at weekends.
  • Beach bar: spring and summer only.
  • Pool Bar: hotel guests only, unless you rent a Balinese bed or a daybed. The price changes by month.
  • Where: Passeig Marítim 80, Sitges.

Further down the coast at Garraf, Little Beach House Barcelona, Soho House's seafront club, has sun loungers on the beach, but it's for members only (from €108.33 a month), and members can bring up to three guests.

What's not here

  • SALT, the W's beach club: its own site shows the restaurant and beach club as temporarily closed, and we found no sign it reopened in 2026.
  • Ocean Club: a nightclub in Eixample, not a beach club.
  • Bestial: closed.
  • Beach bars we couldn't confirm for 2026: Bambú at Llevant (Llevant has no beach-bar licence for 2026–29) and Chiringuito BeGay at Mar Bella, which has nothing dated 2026 online.

Getting there

  • Port Olímpic: metro L4 to Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica, or the T4 tram.
  • Nova Icària, Bogatell and Mar Bella: metro L4 to Llacuna or Poblenou.
  • Llevant: metro L4 to Selva de Mar or El Maresme | Fòrum.
  • Sant Sebastià, Sant Miquel and Barceloneta: metro L4 to Barceloneta.

Rules worth knowing

  • Smoking: banned on every beach since 2022, except in the beach-bar areas and on the promenades.
  • Drinking: there's no outright ban, but the city advises against alcohol on the beach, and its public-conduct bylaw fines drinking from glass bottles or cans in public places where it isn't allowed (€30–100). Buying from unlicensed sellers can be fined too.
  • Dogs: not allowed during the bathing season, except guide dogs and a fenced area at Llevant in high season.
  • Out of season: there are no lifeguards. In an emergency, call 112.

Questions

Does Barcelona have beach clubs?

Not in the Ibiza sense. No beach club in the city has a pool, and the Port Olímpic venues, Opium, Shoko and CDLC, are restaurants and terraces by day and clubs by night. Sunbeds on the sand come from the city-licensed beach bars, and at Bo Kaap on Bogatell you can book one online. For a full beach-club day, go to Beso Beach in Sitges.

How much is a sunbed on a Barcelona beach?

At Bo Kaap on Bogatell, €20 booked online or €30 on the day, with a parasol and a coded safety box. Vai Moana, also on Bogatell, quotes €20 online on its own site and €30 on its group's site, so check before you go.

How much is a beer at a Barcelona beach bar?

The city caps prices at its licensed beach bars: €5.50 for a 33cl beer or a soft drink, €2.75 for a coffee or a small water, and €8.25 for a sandwich, rising with inflation. The caps apply to the licensed beach bars, not to the Port Olímpic restaurants and clubs.

Are Barcelona's beach bars open in October?

They're allowed to open until 30 November at the latest, but they can start packing up from 24 September if storms are forecast, so not all of them last that long. The lifeguard season ended on 4 October 2026. The Port Olímpic venues keep going: CDLC's terrace is enclosed for winter, and Shoko lists nights into November.

Can you drink alcohol on Barcelona's beaches?

There's no outright ban, but the city advises against it, and its public-conduct bylaw fines drinking from glass bottles or cans in public places where it isn't allowed (€30–100). Buying from unlicensed sellers on the sand can be fined too. The beach bars serve drinks in returnable cups.

Which Barcelona beach is the quietest?

The city describes Nova Icària and Nova Mar Bella as among its quietest beaches. Bogatell, often called the calm one, is described by the city as one of the most frequented, with a young crowd. Barceloneta is the favourite with foreign visitors.

Corrections

  • : Rewritten and republished, with the editor’s sign-off. The guide now says plainly that Barcelona has no Ibiza-style beach club, and covers what it does have: the Port Olímpic restaurant-clubs, the city’s licensed beach bars and their capped prices, two beach bars where you can book a sunbed, seafront lunches and Beso Beach in Sitges. Everything was checked against the venues’ own pages and Barcelona city council’s beach information.
  • : Withdrawn. On checking, too little of it held up: Pacha Barcelona became KU Barcelona in September 2025 and has no pool or daybeds that we could find; Ocean Club is a nightclub in Eixample, not a beach club; Opium has no pool; Bestial has closed; and the Gavà section had already been removed. The guide's address now goes to the Barcelona page.
  • : Removed the Gavà section. Beso Beach isn't in Gavà, and we couldn't confirm that Llevataps or Gavamar exist. Chiringuito del Desi is removed for the same reason. The title no longer mentions Gavà.
  • : Removed a first-person account of a beach-club day in Barcelona: the guide is research-led. Removed a quote credited to “a BCN nightlife promoter”, an unnamed source that couldn’t be checked, and a closing line about buying tickets direct through the site, which Citorah doesn’t offer.
